2015 Spring Conference

The North Carolina Specialty Foods Association's 2015 Spring Conference will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015. The Conference will be held at the NC Farm Bureau Building in Raleigh, beginning at 9:00 a.m.


A three-hour seminar, to be presented during the afternoon part of the program, will cover the five key areas of food safety; Basic Food Safety; Personal Hygiene; Cross-Contamination and Allergens; Time and Temperature and Cleaning and Sanitation.   All seminar participants will receive a ServSafe Certificate to display announcing their dedication to food safety and participation in the certification process. Everyone will also receive a copy of the Food Safety Manual, “The ServSafe Food Handler Guide,” as a part of the meeting registration fee.


The seminar will be presented by Jane Broden, a staff member of BEST Broden e-Solutions and Training. Broden serves as the company's lead subject matter expert and industry authority. She has spent nearly 30 years in the restaurant and hotel business. Jane has taught Hotel and Restaurant Management classes at Wake Technical Community College. In 2000 she received the Excellence in Teaching Award for the Business Division at Wake Tech.


Ford's Gourmet Foods is one NCSFA member company which has provided the ServSafe training program for all of their employees. In evaluating the training, Sandi Ford said, “With all of the new food safety regulations coming out of DC, I encourage all NCSFA members to attend this ServSafe class. It makes a statement about your businesses commitment to food safety when the FDA, USDA, 3rd party inspectors and your customers see your ServSafe certificate proudly posted”.


Registration cost is $45 per member attending. Non-member registration is $100 for the first attendee with $50 credited to new members applying for membership by June 1.


Other sessions during the day will include topics. Dave Grossman, Logo Labeling, will cover “Printing Labels 101”; a representative of Harris-Teeter Super Markets has been invited, and Ashlee Furr, Miss Jenny's Pickles, will conduct an open Question and Answer session for members' unanswered questions.
