Open Junior Beef Heifer Show names Supreme Champion

FLETCHER – Carrie Elmore of Enoree, SC was the Supreme Champion at Sunday’s Open Junior Beef Heifer Show at the N.C. Mountain State Fair. Elmore was named Supreme Champion after winning the title of Grand Champion in the Simmental class. Elmore edged out six other Grand Champions from different classes to take home the trophy and a cash prize. Brooke Harward of Richfield, NC was the show’s Reserve Supreme Champion after she won Grand Champion in the Charolais class. She also took home a trophy and cash prize.
The Show was open to any youth under the age of 19. Exhibitors must have been the primary caretaker of their animal for no less than 60 days prior to the show. Classes were divided by breed and birth date.
Grand and Reserve Grand Champions from each class were as follows:
- Angus: Grand Champion – Madison Malso, Hickory, NC; Reserve Grand Champion – Mattie Harward, Richfield, NC
- Charolais: Grand Champion – Brooke Harward, Richfield, NC; Reserve Grand Champion – Mattie Harward, Richfield, NC
- Gelbvieh: Grand Champion – Justin Teeter, Mt. Ulla, NC; Reserve Grand Champion – Sidney Parris, Canton, NC
- Commercial: Grand Champion – Kelsi Cartwright, Leicester, NC; Reserve Grand Champion – Sidney Parris, Canton, NC
- Simmental: Grand Champion – Carrie Elmore, Enoree, SC; Reserve Grand Champion – Cari Mitchell, Lenoir, NC
- Red Angus: Grand Champion – Cari Mitchell, Lenoir, NC; Reserve Grand Champion – Cari Mitchell, Lenoir, NC
- All other breeds: Grand Champion – Matt Craddock, Lawsonville, NC; Reserve Grand Champion – Ty Worley, Leicester, NC
