Skyland Fire and Rescue Provides First Aid at Mountain Fair

FLETCHER – One of the key aspects to any outdoor event, such as the N.C. Mountain State Fair, is the safety and well being of everyone in attendance. At this year’s Mountain State Fair, as in years past, Skyland Fire and Rescue squads will be on the fairgrounds 24 hours a day providing first response, medical assistance.

“So much of what we see here at the fair are smaller things like scrapes, bruises, and bee stings, but it’s nice to know that if needed, we have a great group of qualified professionals on site who can provide top-notch medical assistance”, said fair manager, Matt Buchanan. “We see thousands of people come through the gates each day and we’re fortunate to have these guys on the grounds looking out for their welfare. They continue to do a great job for us and we’re very appreciative of their support for the fair”.

The team from Skyland Fire and Rescue, led by Chief Dennis Pressley, is on call 24 hours a day, regardless of whether or not the fair is in operation. They are prepared to assist with any medical issues, be it minor or major, that may arise. If needed, an ambulance is kept on the grounds in case of emergencies. The team is also first to respond in the case of fire.

Skyland Fire and Rescue are housed during the fair in a building just inside of Gate C and adjacent to Davis Arena and the Pony Express restaurant.
The N.C. Mountain State Fair takes place at the WNC Agricultural Center in Fletcher, September 11-20. For more information, visit www.mountainfair.org or call (828) 687-1414.
