FLETCHER – The Farm Adventure tent will return to the NC Mountain State Fair this year and will feature many farm animals for all to see. Adults and children alike will have the chance to see baby chicks, sheep, rabbits, baby calves, and piglets. Animals on display will be donated by local farmers and area research stations.
If seeing the animals up close isn’t enough, there will also be opportunities for hands-on, educational activities such as cow milking, potato digging, and seed sorting. You can also find an underground vegetable display, antique farm equipment, agricultural facts, and information on local supporters of agriculture.
New to the tent this year will be a live TV feed from the cattle barn and sales arena. Visitors will be able to see what is going on in the barn and in the cattle shows from the screen in the Farm Adventure Tent. There will also be a map which shows how to get to the barn and sales arena.
The tent will be open all 10 days of the fair this year at its new location near Entrance A, next to the UNC-TV exhibit. More information can be found online at www.mountainfair.org or by calling the WNC Agricultural Center at 828-687-1414.
