NC Turfgrass/Sod

pallet of sod

North Carolina ranks fifth in the nation in sod production with approximately 14,500 acres of sod in production.*

The total 2009 value of sales of sod, sprigs and plugs for North Carolina producers with $10,000 or more in sales is estimated at $25.5 million.*

The transitional climate of North Carolina is best suited to grow: bermudagrass, bluegrass, centipedegrass, creeping bentgrass, St. Augustinegrass, tall fescue, tall fescue/bluegrass mix and zoysiagrass sods.

Turfgrass traps and removes dust and dirt from the air.  2,500 square feet of lawn absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, and releases enough oxygen for a family of four to breathe.
