The Cooperative Grading Service offers training for grading on virginia type and runner type peanuts. The training sessions are during the month of September and are required for all peanut graders. The training sessions generally are held for 1 week and a 1 day refresher course is required for all previous NCDA graders.
During training, the grader will learn essentials such as how to use a sampler and grading equipment, personal safety, how to determine peanut segregation, identifying different types of molds, and will practice sampling and grading. The grader trainees will be given a written exam at the end of the training week. If the exam is successfully completed they will be issued a grader license.
