Human Resources
Training
Information on a variety of training opportunities is available in this section. The Department
operates under the State's Educational Assistance Program, which means that under
certain guidelines educational leave may be granted and/or academic costs may
be reimbursed upon successful completion of approved coursework.
The Department provides opportunities for middle managers to participate in the State's
Public Manager Program. Additional opportunities are provided to first line supervisors
through the Introduction to Supervision Program and to mid-level managers through
the Supervision for Managers/Professionals Program, which is a prerequisite for
the Public Manager Program. Managers and supervisors must also attend the EEO
Institute. Computer training is available through the Professional Skills Program
for all employees.
The Department provides training to supervisors and managers in the Performance Management
System. Employees may attend Prepare for Tomorrow and Preparing Makes $ense Workshops
that are also offered by the Department.
Other
training available includes Aids, Alcohol/Drug-Free Workplace, fire extinguisher
and evacuation emergency response, as well as training in other safety and health
