Antifreeze Program
Registration and Licensing
The North Carolina Antifreeze Law of 1975 requires submitting application for registration by July 1. The annual license and inspection fee is $500.00 per brand.
As of June 15, 2011 the General Assembly increased the license and inspection fee by an additional $250, so that the total fee is now $500 per brand. It is important for you to note this fee increase has been enacted. If you have sent in an application with the previous $250 fee per brand, please forward the additional $250 per brand to the address listed below.
Steps for product registration for the fiscal year 2011 / 2012 are as follows:
- Forms for submitting fiscal year 2011/2012 applications are enclosed. If additional forms are required, please photocopy as needed. Submit new application forms completely filled out, in triplicate, for each brand. DO NOT photocopy and resubmit last year's application. Photocopies of old registration forms will be returned, thus delaying registration.
- Submit a one-gallon sample of each brand of antifreeze which is representative of the composition of the product as it will appear in the North Carolina market. Please note the address listed on page 2 under Samples submitted when sending the one gallon sample.
- Every application must have a label attached representing the product to be registered. Submit one specimen label for each size of container (one quart, one-gallon, five-gallon, and 55-gallon) as it will appear in the North Carolina market. This should be either a paper or plastic film label. If lithographed containers are used, submit a photostatic copy or other facsimile of the full labeling. Photostats or facsimiles should fully indicate color designations on the label.
- Make the check for the total fees payable to the NC Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
- Complete applications (application forms, samples, and fees) must be received by July 1,2011
