Select most recently mature leaves (MRMLs).

Tomatoes have compound leaves: each leaf has 5 to
13 leaflets. Collect the most recently mature compound
leaf. It will be full-sized and
green and is usually the 4th
or 5th leaf down from the
growing point. For routine analysis, choose healthy
leaves undamaged by
disease, insects, or environmental conditions.
